Shreveport’s Michael Pereira and Monroe’s Frances Altick successfully defended their open singles titles in the The City Championships tournament Sunday at the Bossier Tennis Center.
Pereira, the director of tennis at Querbes Park, defeated 18-year-old former Shreveporter Jackson Hinderberger in the men’s final.
Hinderberger won the first set 6-3. Pereira took the second 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-5.
The match was then decided by a 10-point tiebreaker with Pereira coming out on top 10-5.
Altick won the women’s final for the third straight year, defeating Minden’s Marta Sramkova 6-0, 6-0.
Sramkova and Therina Steenkamp of Shreveport defeated Shreveport’s RebeccaGrace Lindsay and AnneMarie Kimball in the women’s open doubles final 6-2, 6-2.
Hinderberger and Shreveport’s Anthony McMaster defeated Stonewall’s Kody Anderson and Bossier City’s Marc Paz 6-1, 6-0 in the men’s open doubles final.
Altick and Monroe’s Ridge Creech defeated McMaster and Shreveport’s Morgan Young 7-5, 6-2 in the open mixed doubles final.
