Members of the Bossier Lions Club learned more about the responsibilities of the Bossier City Marshal’s Office during their Thursday, June 25, meeting as Bossier City Marshal Jim Whitman served as the featured speaker.
Whitman opened the presentation by introducing two deputy marshals from his office, who provided an overview of the agency’s day-to-day operations and the services it provides throughout the city.
The deputies explained that the Marshal’s Office is responsible for serving civil court documents, executing court orders, conducting evictions ordered by the court, collecting judgments and maintaining security for Bossier City Court. They also discussed the role deputies play in assisting the court system while working closely with other local law enforcement agencies.
They also noted that while the office is often less visible than traditional law enforcement agencies, its work is essential in carrying out court orders and supporting the administration of justice in Bossier City.
Club members had the opportunity to ask questions about the office’s responsibilities, the civil process and the differences between the duties of the Marshal’s Office and other local law enforcement agencies.
The presentation gave Lions Club members a better understanding of the services provided by the Marshal’s Office and the important role the agency plays in serving the citizens of Bossier City through the local court system.
The Bossier Lions Club hosts weekly meetings featuring guest speakers from government, education, business and nonprofit organizations to keep members informed about issues and developments affecting the Bossier community.
