State Sen. Adam Bass was the guest speaker at the North Bossier luncheon Sept. 30 at the Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning in Bossier City, where he discussed the 2026 Louisiana legislative session and funding for projects in Senate District 36.

Bass spoke about several bills that passed during the legislative session and provided an update on state funding he helped bring back to the district.

A funding summary for District 36 showed approximately $48.3 million in appropriations for projects involving roads, water and sewer systems, public safety and other infrastructure.

Among the projects listed was $7.7 million for improvements to the Louisiana Highway 3 and Interstate 220 interchange, including planning and construction.

The funding also included $10.2 million for improvements to Highway 157 from Louisiana Highway 3227 to U.S. Highway 80.

Other transportation projects included $6.05 million for widening Highway 157 from Interstate 20 to the railroad south of West McKinley Avenue.

Water and sewer projects listed included $6.12 million for the Swan Lake/Deen Point waterline extension, $4.7 million for the Interstate 20 water and sewer force main crossing and lift station, $3.4 million for wastewater collection improvements in the Courthouse Subbasin and $1.189 million for sewerage system improvements.

The list also included $1.78 million for Robertson Lift Station improvements and $546,684 for a potable water ground storage tank.

Public safety projects included $2.8 million for a fire station, $3.4 million for a regional response vehicle driving track and $450,000 for a communications tower for public safety and utilities.

Bass also discussed legislation passed during the session, including measures addressing voter identification, career-exposure activities for students and workforce development.

One measure listed in the legislative materials, Act 856, created the Louisiana Talent Accelerator within the Louisiana Workforce Commission to align workforce programs and resources with local employer needs.

Bass represents Louisiana Senate District 36, which includes portions of Bossier and Webster parishes.

The luncheon gave attendees an opportunity to hear directly from Bass about legislation passed during the 2026 session and state funding coming to District 36. The projects include road, water, sewer and public safety improvements in Bossier and Webster parishes.
