Airline, Bossier fall in road games

The Airline Vikings and Bossier Bearkats both ran into buzzsaws last Friday night.

The Vikings fell to perennial Class 5A power West Monroe 44-14 in West Monroe.

The struggling Bearkats dropped a 58-7 decision to Union Parish in Farmerville.

Airline quickly fell behind 14-0 and trailed 44-0 at the half.

Jacob James and Kevonte Johnson scored late touchdowns for the Vikings (2-2).

West Monroe (2-2), which has played a very tough schedule, amassed 390 total yards. The Rebels rushed for 234 yards and four touchdowns.

Airline had 176 yards with much of that coming late in the game. Chase Rivers completed 11 of 25 passes for 57 yards.

At Farmerville, Bossier (0-4) trailed 17-0 at the end of the first quarter and 38-0 at the half.

Union Parish (3-1) gained 393 total yards, including 259 rushing.

Bossier had 235 yards rushing. Isaiah McKinsey led the way with 60 yards on 10 carries. Quarterback Brandon Harris had 39 yards on 13 carries and scored on a 1-yard run with 4:53 left in the game.

The Bearkats lost three fumbles in the game. Bossier has allowed an average of 48.5 points per game.
