The Airline Dixie Majors baseball team is off to a 3-0 start.
After routs of Lakeside and Loyola to start the season, the Vikings pulled out an 8-7 victory over Northwood last Thursday.
Ryan Phillips scored the winning run on a suicide squeeze in the final inning.
Cameron Taylor had two triples for Airline. Will Goodwin also had a triple and a single.
Andrew Maxey singled to start Airline’s rally in the seventh inning. He was also the winning pitcher.
Taylor’s first triple came with the bases loaded in the second inning and gave Airline a 5-3 lead.
Taylor, who will be a sophomore this fall, had a particularly hot bat last week.
He had a double in an 10-0 victory over Lakeside and a triple in a 12-0 win over Loyola.
He also combined with Andrew Lowe to throw a no-hitter.
Airline returns to action tonight at 8 against Captain Shreve’s No. 1 team at Shreve. The Vikings host a team composed of Central-Grand Cane and Southwood players Tuesday night.
The Haughton Rangers Majors team went 2-1 last week, capped by a 17-7 victory over North Caddo Thursday.
Haughton coach Glenn Maynor said Kirkland Seals and Seth Ryan had outstanding weeks.
Haughton hosts Byrd’s No. 2 team tonight and has a bye Tuesday.
Parkway went 2-1 in Majors play, defeating Captain Shreve and Southwood and losing to Northwood.
Parkway coach Mike Stevenson said Rob Harper had a great week with multiple hits in every game. Dylan Whaley and Tyler Schilling also hit well, he said.
Parkway hosts North Caddo tonight.
Benton went 4-2 in Dixie Pre-Majors and Majors games combined.
Benton coach Bryan George cited Clayton Festavan for his play.
Benton visits Evangel tonight and hosts the combined Airline-Captain Shreve No. 2 team Tuesday.
Airline’s Pre-Majors team went 1-2, losing a tough 2-1 decision to Northwood Thursday.
Austin Zickefoose and Matt Brown both had triples.
