Airline finishes Dixie Majors season unbeaten; Haughton closes strong

Airline’s No. 1 team finished undefeated in the Dixie Majors June baseball season.
The Vikings closed the season on June 23 with a 13-1 victory over Evangel.
Airline’s final two games of the season were rained out. The No. 1 team finished 12-0-1 with the only blemish on its record a tie against Loyola.
Andrew Maxey and Jarrett Bamburg both hit home runs in the Evangel win. Jacob James had two doubles. Kyle Backofen got the win.
Haughton closed its season strong, winning its final five games.
The Rangers knocked off Benton 4-3 on June 23.
Kirkland Seals pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts. He also had two hits. Andrew Sewell went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tyler Davis had a triple. Keith Ramsey had two RBIs and Triston Carmack had one.
Benton coach Bryan said Clayton Festavan pitched well. Jake Norris went 3-for-4, and Coleman Nerren had two hits.

Haughton also defeated Benton in the Pre-Majors game. Jonathan Plant got the win. Liam Stedman went 3-for-4 for the Rangers.
Haughton’s Majors team also had wins over North DeSoto, 8-4, and North Webster, 3-1.
Triston Carmack pitched four innings against North DeSoto with Trey Morris and Sam Wallace coming on in relief.
Ramsey went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Seals, Carmack, Andrew Sewell, Colby Holmes and Seth Ryan all had RBIs.
Ramsey struck out five with only one walk against North Webster. He also bunted a runner to third.
Sewell and Ryan drove in runs. Sam Wallace stole home after reaching third on a hit by Carmack.
