Airline picks up win in Broadmoor volley tournament


The Airline Lady Vikings defeated host Broadmoor in the Broadmoor tournament last weekend in Baton Rouge.

The teams split sets with Airline taking the first 25-15 and losing the second 25-18. The Lady Vikings won the tiebreaking third 16-14.

The Lady Viking also lost to St. Katherine’s, Baton Rouge Magnet and Westminster in the event.

Shelbi Chadick had five kills, five aces and two digs in the win over Broadmoor. Ashley Hagiler had seven assists, two digs and two aces.

Hagiler had eight assists, two digs and two aces against St. Katherine’s. Chadick had eight kills, three aces and eight digs.

Courtney Riede had four digs and one kill against Baton Rouge Magnet. Riede had 10 digs and one kill against Westminster. Chadick had nine digs and two kills.

Airline started district play last week with a three-set loss to Leesville. The Lady Vikings scored 12 straight points before losing the final set 25-23.

The Airline freshman and JV teams both beat Leesville. The freshman team won 25-20, 25-23.

The JV team split sets, winning the first 25-14 and losing the second 25-20 before taking the tiebreaker 15-5.

Airline faces Leesville again on the road Thursday, while Haughton visits Mansfield.
