The Airline boys and girls teams both finished fourth in the Large Schools Division of the Menard Invitational cross country meet Saturday in Alexandria.
Airline’s Kaleb Sahlie finished fourth in the boys’ individual competition, covering the 3-mile course in 16 minutes, 53.83 seconds. Chace Edwards of Brother Martin won in 16:13.63.
The Vikings scored 148 points. Brother Martin of New Orleans won easily with 19 points.
Other Airline boys in the scoring were Seth Papineau (21st, 17:40.51), Nate Godeaux (26th, 17:49.32), Mark Mitchell (53rd, 18:34.30) and Clifton Haacker (60th, 18:54.02).
Airline freshman Isabelle Shamblin finished sixth in the girls’ race in 20:54.46. Kaitlin Tanner of Loyola won in 18:47.96.
Other Airline girls in he scoring were May Randle (17th, 21:45.32), Bethanie Dunn (36th, 22:42.93), Abby Garza (42nd, 23:32.34) and Emilee Burns (23:54.61).
Airline scored 128 points. St. Thomas More won with 25.
Rachel Yarrington and Shaderrika Edwards finished 46th and 48th, respectively.
