Airline’s Kei McCoy has been named the MVP on the All-District 1-5A girls basketball team selected by the district’s coaches.
McCoy, a 5-foot-7 senior guard, averaged 16.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
McCoy led the Lady Vikings to a 20-8 record. Haughton and Airline tied for second in the district, one game behind Southwood.
Haughton’s Ebone’ Green and Airline’s Tyra Kidd also made the first team.
Kidd, a 5-9 post player, averaged 11.2 points and 7.9 rebounds.
Green, a senior guard, averaged 11.1 points. She helped the Lady Bucs finish 19-7.
Airline senior guard Madison Rowland and Haughton senior forward Chelcy Swint made the second team.
Rowland averaged 9 points and 1.3 assists. She made 78 3-pointers, second most in a season by an Airline player.
Swint averaged 9.5 points.
Haughton’s Cassandra Simmons and Bethany Knotts were named honorable mention.
The other first-team selections were Southwood’s Jailyn Brown and Byrd’s Alexis Dean.
Southwood’s Danesha Hall and Kiera Tillman and Byrd’s Ronesha Murff were on the second team.
Benton senior post player Gabby Jackson and junior guard Brandy Harris were named to the All-District 1-4A second team.
Jackson, a Northwestern State signee who missed about half the season with a foot injury, averaged 13.3 points and 10.7 rebounds.
Harris averaged 15.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals.
Benton’s Lele Carper and Yakina Manning were named honorable mention.
Bossier junior Tia Walker and senior Gabbie Mason were named All-District 1-3A second team.
Mason averaged 11 points and seven rebounds. Walker averaged 9 points, 3 steals and 3 assists.
Plain Dealing placed two players on the All-District 1-1A first team — freshman Draunautika Thomas and freshman Teaunna Perry.
Thomas averaged 11.2 points and 10.0 rebounds. Perry averaged 10.4 points and 2.5 assists.
Plain Dealing’s Navia Johnson and Dra Briggs were named honorable mention.
