The Plain Dealing Lions jumped on top of Logansport early and kept the Tigers at bay for a 30-23 non-district victory Friday night in Logansport.
Plain Dealing improved to 3-1. Logansport dropped to 2-2.
Plain Dealing quarterback Logan Allen ran for two touchdowns in the first half and completed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Logan Allen in the third quarter. Allen also scored two-point conversions after his first-half TDs.
Keldrick Carper returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown to give Logansport a 30-20 lead with 9:47 left in the game.
Plain Dealing had leads of 8-0 and 16-8, but Logansport scored late in the second quarter and trailed just 16-14 at the half.
The Lions went up 24-14 on Jacobs’ TD catch and Desean Morris’ conversion run in the third quarter, but the Tigers came right back to cut it to four.
“They stayed in the game, and they fought the whole game,” Plain Dealing coach Coy Brotherton said Logansport.
Brotherton said several times the Lions had chances to extend the lead and put the game away but mistakes prevented them from doing so.
“We threw one interception tonight, had a fumble, had a couple of penalties and bunch of dropped passes,” he said.
Plain Dealing plays North Caddo in its homecoming game next. North Caddo dropped to 0-4 with a 37-10 loss to Jonesboro-Hodge.
