On Saturday, February 20, advertising professionals and college students from Shreveport and Bossier City will gather at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs to honor the best of the best in the local advertising world at the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier’s ADDY awards.

 

The American Advertising Awards (“ADDYs”) are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local AAF Club competitions. The mission of the American Advertising Awards competition is to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising.

 

Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (“AAF”), the local AAF Club phase is the first of a three-tier, national competition. Concurrently, all across the country, local entrants vie to win American Advertising Awards—recognition as the very best in their markets. From there, entrants winning a gold or silver are forwarded onward to the district competition. If they place at district, then they are forwarded on to nationals.

 

This year, the local AAF Club, the American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier (“AAFSB”), has 126 professional ADDY entries and 20 student entries. The broad categories in which local ad professionals entered work include but are not limited to collateral material, direct marketing, packaging, outdoor, digital, television, integrated campaigns, social media, photography, advertising self-promotion, and book design. Centenary and LSUS submitted student entries in categories including illustration, special event materials, magazine design and digital creative technology.

 

This year’s gala, themed “Gold Rush”, will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs with a cocktail reception where attendees can view all submitted artwork. Following the reception, dinner will be served and the awards presentation will begin. After the “Best of Show” award is announced, the night will culminate with games and other entertainment.
