The sixth annual Nest Fest, a fundraiser benefiting people transitioning from homelessness in northwest Louisiana, will be held 6 – 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1 at the Bossier Civic Center.
The event will feature food from Good Eats, live music from Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs and an impressive silent auction featuring jewelry, power tools, weekend getaways and more. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to benefit the Renesting Project, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide gently used furniture and household goods to clients of registered social service agencies as they transition from homelessness in Bossier and Caddo Parishes.
General admission tickets to Nest Fest are $50 each and can be purchased at www.renestingprojectinc.org/nestfest.
The second annual CHAIRished Beginnings design competition, sponsored by the American Society of Interior Designers South Central Chapter, will also take place at the event. Vignettes designed with reclaimed items will be on display and entrants will compete in categories such as Best in Show and Best Transformed Item.
After the judging, all of the items will be auctioned or donated to Renesting Project’s clients. Design students, enthusiasts and professionals are invited to take part in the competition. Registration is underway through July 1 at www.renestingprojectinc.org/nestfest.
“As a professional interior designer, I am honored to announce that Alice Fakier, from season one of HGTV’s Design Star, will be a celebrity judge for the CHAIRished Beginnings design competition,” said Noel Haacker, founder and executive director at Renesting Project. “Alice is a talented designer, graduate of Louisiana Tech University and member of the American Society of Interior Designers. This is a great opportunity for our community and anyone who loves interior design.”
