Team RWB Shreveport-Bossier will be hosting our 3rd Annual 9/11 Moving Tribute on Friday, September 11, 2015 from Sunrise (6:55am) to Sunset (7:30pm). Flags will be kept moving by runners, walkers or cyclists all day in remembrance of 9/11. This free community event will be held at Veterans Memorial Park on Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway in Shreveport.
Team RWB is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization with headquarters in Tampa, FL. Team Red, White & Blue’s goal is to transform the way America supports its veterans by bringing veterans, their families, and American citizens together through authentic social interaction and shared experiences in communities all over America. Our Mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.
Our Shreveport- Bossier Chapter is 2 1/2 years old and has grown to over 300 members. We work to deliver consistent, local opportunities for veterans and the community to connect through physical, social and service opportunities. We host weekly fitness activities, monthly social events, and quarterly service events. We participate in local races and events together and have been honored to present the colors for the National Anthem at many local events.
Our goal for the 9/11 Moving Tribute is to keep a Flag moving along Clyde Fant Parkway from Sunrise to Sunset on 9/11/2015. We will stand united with the community to honor and families, friends, first responders, veterans and ALL those affected by the events of 9/11/01. At least one flag will be kept moving the entire day passed from one person/group to the next at the Veterans Park base for the day.
Over the course of the day, there will be many flags and many people moving in tribute over 2 different routes from the park-on the trail to downtown and around the VA. Everyone is welcome to run, walk, roll (bike, wheelchair, handcycle, or stroller). Life Air Rescue is scheduled to attend weather permitting. The 2014 event had over 300 participants, and we are hoping to see the event grow this year. Water and light snacks are being made available through generous donations from community partners and there will be a food truck available throughout the day offering food for purchase.
