The annual Run with the Nuns VIII will be held in the Red River District of Downtown Shreveport on Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18.
This two-day event will kick off on Friday night will be the first RWTN Children’s Festival. This is the first free children’s festival in the area and will feature Frozen on a giant outdoor screen as well as food, bingo, games, etc. There will also be a special appearance by the Frozen princesses and Oaf snowman. Other events Friday night include Painting with a Purpose and a live band in the Red River District.
The main event on Saturday will feature a blessing of 1,000 bikes with Bishop Michael Duca and Msgr. Earl Provenxa and the roaring ride send off with Sister Marilyn Millar, SFCC, a missionary nurse from Los Angeles who took care of malnourished infants and young children in third world countries, as the lead nun for the rally. Other nuns from across the area and country are expected to attend. In addition to several planned events for the day, the Humanitarian Award will be given to Brother’s Keepers a group of biker firemen who raise funds and staff the children’s burn camp in east Texas.
The Run with the Nuns event benefits local children’s health programs including, Cara Center for abused children, Gingerbread House, and school based health centers. Run with the Nuns is a two-day motorcycle rally held in Red River District in downtown Shreveport from Oct. 17-18. This is the 8th year for the rally that benefits children’s programs in the community such as Cara Center, Gingerbread House, and school based health centers.
