Apartment stabbing ends in attempted murder charge

Bossier City police investigated a stabbing this afternoon at a local apartment complex that put one man in the intensive care unit of a local hospital and another in jail.

Police and fire personnel were called to an apartment the Peter’s Place Apartments in the 1500 block of Barksdale Boulevard just after 2 p.m. May 28 regarding the report of a man who had sustained a stab wound to his neck.

The victim, 51 year old Larry Ocon (pronounced Oh-con), was taken to University Health hospital in Shreveport where he underwent surgery and is now recovering in the intensive care unit.

During the course of the investigation detectives with the BCPD Violent Crimes Unit linked suspect 35 year old Michael Hawthorne of Bossier City to the stabbing and took him into custody early this evening.

Hawthorne was booked into the Bossier City Jail on a charge of attempted second degree murder.
