Arc of Acadiana is expanding its presence in Bossier City, breaking ground on a new residential facility designed to enhance care for individuals with developmental disabilities. The organization, which has been a cornerstone of support in Northwest Louisiana for nearly 13 years, celebrated this milestone with a Groundbreaking Ceremony on March 26, 2025, at 4708 Barksdale Boulevard.
City officials, including Mayor Tommy Chandler, joined Arc of Acadiana leaders and community members to mark the next phase of the organization’s commitment to empowering individuals, supporting families, and enhancing lives in the region.
Arc of Acadiana first established its presence in Bossier City by privatizing the former Northwest Supports and Services Center on Shed Road. Now, with the construction of this new residential facility, the organization is taking a major step forward in ensuring individuals with developmental disabilities have access to high-quality resources and care.
“This expansion is not just about growth—it’s about deepening our roots in Bossier City and reinforcing our mission,” an Arc of Acadiana spokesperson said. “We are committed to serving more individuals, supporting families, and creating a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
The groundbreaking event brought together local leaders, advocates, and supporters, all celebrating the positive impact this facility will have on the community. The new residential space will provide individuals with greater access to care, independence, and an environment where they can flourish.
As construction begins, Arc of Acadiana encourages the community to stay engaged and follow updates as they bring this vision to life.
