Motorcycle clubs spread Christmas cheer

A dozen area motorcycle clubs brought smiles to children Saturday afternoon when they rode nearly 30 motorcycles with Santa Claus in tow and surprised the kiddos with lots of Christmas presents at Lake Bistineau.

The team of riders gathered at the Downtown Koran store on Highway 527 in south Bossier Parish. They prayed together, jumped on their bikes, and the Bossier Sheriff’s Office helped escort the riders from the store to “Our Place” at the lake, where a dozen children were waiting.

Santa Claus, or as he likes to be called, “Southern Santa,” and his bride, Mrs. Claus, or as she is known, “Rebel Moon,” spearheaded the event to help some kids and families who were down on their luck due to various circumstances. The couple are actually David and Vicki Trent, and they are motorcycle club vendors.

Santa, Mrs. Claus, and a whole host of “elves” who were dressed as motorcycle riders presented 10 bicycles, scooters, baby dolls, clothing and other toys. Someone even presented $100 for each of the families – there were four children from Texarkana, three from Vivian, three from Dubach, one from Shreveport, and one child from Haughton.
