PLAIN DEALING, LA – Arthur M. Lee was born in Haughton, LA on March 26, 1935 to Eugene Lee and Leila Richardson Lee, one of 14 children. He attended Princeton High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southern A&M University in 1959. Upon his graduation he served in the Army Chemical Corp at Dugway Proving Grounds in Dugway, Utah as a Mathematical Statistician for Chemical, Biological and Radiological Warfare. He was offered a direct commission as 2nd Lt. by then President of the United States, John F. Kennedy. He declined this offer to return to the field of education and was Honorably Discharged in 1965.
In 1961 Arthur came to Carrie Martin High School in Plain Dealing, LA, where he met Annette Boyd, a fellow educator. They were married on August 4, 1962. In 1978 he and his wife received their Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling from Prairie View A&M. Arthur remained in the Bossier Parish School system, retiring in 1996 after 36 years.
He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. He served as a deacon and the Finance Clerk until his passing. His involvement with civic, social and political affairs of the community brought him to the forefront of many projects and established him as a community leader.
Arthur M. Lee passed away peacefully on July 26, 2013. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Annette Boyd Lee, daughter, Angela B. Lee, son, Adrian M. Lee and his wife Jennifer DeMoss-Lee, their daughter Anna DeMoss and son, Jude Arthur Eugene Lee, a sister, Bertha Armstrong, sisters-in-law Edna Lee, Ivory Jewel Harris, brothers-in-law, J. D. Gladney (Louise), Rev. John J. Harris (Hilda), Ralph Harris (Virginia) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shah, Primary Physician, Dr. Eaves, Cardiologist, Pathway Rehabilitation Center, STAT Home Health and the Doctors and Nurses at the Willis Knighton-Bossier ICU. Their professionalism, dedication and care was a great comfort.
