Attempted armed robbery in Haughton

Detectives with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office are looking for a man and his accomplice who attempted an armed robbery at a convenience store earlier today in Haughton.
Just before noon Saturday, a man entered the Red Point Food Mart on Highway 80 and Highway 614 in Haughton.  He walked around the store, got a drink and headed to the register.  When he went to make his purchase, he attempted to grab the money from the register with his left hand, while brandishing some type of metal object as a weapon with his right hand.  The lone clerk quickly closely the cash register drawer before the suspect could get any money, and he fled the scene in a maroon-color, 4-door Lincoln sedan along with an accomplice in the vehicle.  Although the clerk was shaken up, she was unharmed.

Video surveillance from the store shows the vehicle driving into the parking lot, as well as the suspect inside the store committing the felony.

The vehicle was then captured on dash cam video by a Haughton Police Department officer who was working a separate case involving a vehicle crash at the I-20 westbound on-ramp at mile marker 33.  That is the last time the vehicle was seen.

Detectives are looking for a black man, possibly in his 20s or 30s, wearing cargo camouflage pants, a white shirt with a black emblem on his right sleeve, wearing a ball cap and a large white watch on his left arm.

If anyone has any information about the identification of this armed robber or the vehicle used in this felony, please contact the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at (318) 965-2203.  Thanks to the Haughton Police and Fire Departments for their support of this investigation.
