The Bossier Parish Community College Theatre Program and the Cavalier Players announce auditions for the cast of the Broadway musical fantasy, A Year with Frog and Toad.

BPCCThe show was adapted from the books and stories of Arnold Lobel, with book and lyrics by Willie Reale and Music by Robert Reale.

Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, August 20 and 21 in the Performing Arts Theatre, Building C on the BPCC campus, 6220 East Texas Street in Bossier City, LA.

Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, dean of Communication and Performing Arts, will direct this whimsical Tony Award-winning musical which follows Lobel’s delightful characters, the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad, as they journey through four, fun-filled seasons. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in their differences that make them unique and special. According to Music Theatre International, it is “part vaudeville, part make believe, and all charm, with a jazzy, upbeat musical score. A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant, and enchanting musical for the entire family.”

The musical has a number of lead and supporting roles of all types. Those auditioning should prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue and a short musical selection. Please bring sheet music. Readings and singing selections will be provided for those who do not bring their own. Scripts are available for overnight checkout at the BPCC Theatre Program.
