Authorities Investigating Scene – As Body is Discovered in the Red River

Amanda Simmons/Press-Tribune | The water level continues to rise along the Red River. Local officials are encouraging residents to prepare for potential flooding as the river is expected to crest at 33 feet by June 5, according to parish and state officials.

A body was discovered on the Shreveport side of the Red River (under the Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge) shortly after 9 am this morning. The scene is currently being investigated by law enforcement officials. The Bossier Sheriff’s Office, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Shreveport police all participated in the recovery efforts that took place following the discovery of the body.

The body has not yet been identified and no foul play is suspected.
The Caddo Parish Coroner’s office is determining the cause of death at this time.

BPT is awaiting further information from the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s office.
