The Bossier Arts Council’s East Bank Gallery welcomes the artists of the Shreveport Pastel Society for their show, “Down the Path with Pastels”.
The exhibit will feature a variety of artworks that showcase each artist’s unique and distinctive personal styles. The show will hang in the East Bank Gallery from October 1st to November 29th and will have a reception on Saturday, October 11th from 2pm to 4pm where attendees will have an opportunity to view the artworks and meet the Shreveport Pastel Society as well.
The Shreveport Pastel Society formed after 15 participants took a pastel workshop with nationally known artist, Alan Flattman, of New Orleans in 2005.
When asked about their goals for painting, Barbara Rushing, a long-time member stated, “We paint for pure pleasure, no judging or ribbons. We just love to paint with pastels and sell art in this group. In Down the Path with Pastels we will be sharing our artworks with you; have fun and enjoy seeing them.”
Additionally, several of the artists featured offer lessons and if you are interested in learning to paint in pastels, please e-mail Barbara Rushing at BRushing3@comcast.net.
