Two former Bossier Parish high school prep standpoints, Louisiana-Lafayette pitcher Carson Baranik and Northwestern State third baseman Chase Daughdrill, have been named first team on the All-Louisiana College Baseball Team selected by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Baranik, who played at Parkway, was 10-1 with a 3.30 earned run average for the Ragin’ Cajuns, who won the Sun Belt Conference and advanced to the Super Regionals, losing to Ole Miss in three games. Baranik, who recently signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, was the Sun Belt Pitcher of the YeR.
Daughdrill, a former Airline star who played his first two years at BPCC, batted .324 with nine doubles, two home runs and 38 RBIs. He will be a senior next season.
The individual award winners were Louisiana-Lafayette second baseman Jace Conrad (Hitter/Player of the Year), LSU’s Aaron Nola (Pitcher of the Year), LSU pitcher Jared Poche’ (Freshman of the Year), Southeastern Louisiana Outfielder Andrew Godbold (Newcomer of the Year) and Louisiana-Lafayette’s Tony Robichaux (Coach of the Year).
