A new business in Bossier City is already making waves with budget-conscious shoppers. Barksdale Family Wholesale has officially opened its doors, offering residents deep discounts on everyday essentials at a time when many families are feeling the pinch of rising costs and inflation.

Owners Jess and her family say their inspiration came from a personal place. Jess’s stepfather, Eric Mancill, built B&E Wholesale in Monroe, Louisiana, from the ground up after years of working as a truck driver. Using his industry contacts, Mancill began sourcing goods at the lowest prices possible, determined to give back to his community. His success sparked the idea for Jess and her family to follow in his footsteps.

“We worked for Eric on occasion and saw the impact he was having on the people of Monroe,” Jess explained. “It was incredible to see how much fun it was searching for the best deals — and how meaningful it was to families. That was the inspiration behind Barksdale Family Wholesale.”

Unlike a traditional grocery or retail store, Barksdale Family Wholesale operates with one mission in mind: bring wholesale pricing directly to the customer.

“We try to have all of our prices at wholesale levels and below,” Jess said. “Our goal is to pass as much savings along to the customer as possible.”

The shelves are stocked with a mix of necessities — from cleaning supplies like bleach and laundry detergent to pantry staples such as canned vegetables — along with seasonal items and hard-to-find bargains. Customers can expect to save an average of 40 percent compared to regular retail, with discounts ranging from 10 to 75 percent.

Jess said the store is especially focused on helping families who may be struggling to stretch their budgets.

“Being able to save money on necessities means making ends meet easier,” she said. “That allows our customers to put their money elsewhere, whether it’s toward bills, gas, or other needs.”

The store also aims to fill a gap in the community by offering products that some might not otherwise be able to afford. One example is their large three-gallon laundry buckets, sold at under $8 a gallon — a price point that makes a significant difference for families watching every dollar.

Looking ahead, Barksdale Family Wholesale plans to expand its grocery selection and launch a new website to allow online orders for in-store pickup.

“We want to provide a clean, pleasant shopping experience where people leave not only happy with the deals they found but also with the customer service they received,” Jess said.

For Bossier City families, the arrival of Barksdale Family Wholesale means more than just savings — it represents relief, hope, and the promise of a local business dedicated to helping the community thrive, one discounted grocery item at a time.

Barksdale Family Wholesale is located at 2650 Barksdale Blvd, Bossier City, LA, United States, Louisiana.
