Barksdale Air Force Base will host nine high schools from the Ark-La-Tex region for its first ever Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Drill meet Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A drill meet is a competition for units to perform routines based on military drill. Cadets perform either armed or unarmed drill during competitive drill competitions. Around 180 high school JROTC cadets will have the opportunity to compete among each other with former U.S. Air Force Military Training Instructors and Honor Guard members as judges.

After the award ceremony, participants and their parents will have the opportunity to view static aircraft displays on the flight line, interact with service members from various units, and observe military working dog demonstrations by the 2nd Security Forces Squadron.

This event is closed to the public in an effort to maintain proper COVID mitigation protocols.
