The Airline Vikings, Parkway Panthers and Benton Tigers picked up district victories Thursday.
In District 1-5A, Airline downed Haughton 7-3 at Airline and Parkway defeated Southwood 9-5 at Southwood.
In District 1-5A, Benton rebounded from a tough loss to Northwood Tuesday at Northwood with a 10-3 victory at Loyola.
At Airline, the Vikings took advantage of a solid pitching performance by Peyton Davis and six Haughton errors in the victory.
Davis allowed two hits in six innings to get the victory. Tanner Daniel went 2-for-2 for the Vikings (8-12, 2-2). Cameron Taylor had a double.
Haughton (11-12, 2-2) led 3-0 after two innings, but the Vikings scored four in the third thanks to a Taylor double and Bucs’ miscues.
The series continues today at Haughton at 6 and concludes Saturday at Airline at 2.
At Southwood, Parkway scored five runs in the top of the seventh thanks to several Cowboys’ errors.
Demetrius McAtee had two hits, including a double. Austin Averitt also had a double, and Rob Harper had two RBIs.
The series continues at 6 p.m. today at Parkway and concludes at 2 Saturday at Southwood.
Jordan Shaffer went 4-for-5 with a double in Benton’s win over Loyola. Cameron Horton hit a two-run homer.
Aaron Sheppard pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts.
Tuesday, Benton (15-7, 3-1) fell to Northwood in heartbreaking fashion.
The Tigers led 4-3 going into the seventh inning, but Deauton Delgado hit a two-run homer to win it for the Falcons.
Jaret Gill gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead with a two-run homer in the fifth.
Benton had twice as many hits as Northwood, 10-5.
Shaffer allowed four hits in six innings and struck out 10.
He also had an outstanding game at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double. Branson Woodward, who missed the first part of the season with an injury, went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
The Bossier Bearkats defeated Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing 23-7 Wednesday.
Zach McKnight, David Dunson and Alex Galvan all had two hits for Bossier. Derrick Jones had a three-run triple. Brent Wroblewski had a double.
Dunson also had a double and three RBIs. Khalil Bolden and Cortez Thompson had two RBIs each.
