Baseball: Bossier Phillies remain alive in American Legion regional tournament with rout of Tennessee team

The Bossier Phillies stayed alive in the American Legion Baseball Mid-South Regional tournament Friday with a 7-1 victory over Columbia, Tenn., in Washington, Mo.

Bossier will be one of four teams remaining in the eight-team tournament following Friday’s games. The Phillies play again Saturday at approximately noon against an opponent to be determined later Friday.

Liberty-Eylau, Texas, High senior Britain Pipes went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Blayne McFerren, a 2024 North DeSoto graduate, had a two-RBI double in Bossier’s four-run first inning.

Benton senior Kade Bryant drew three walks and had an RBI. Hudson Brignac, a 2024 Benton graduate, went 1-for-2 and drew a walk. He also reached base via a hit-by-pitch.

Benton senior Jackson Jones had a single and an RBI.

The Phillies got strong performances on the mound from Glenbrook senior Easton Sanders, Beckville, Texas, senior Cade Moore and Brignac.

Sanders started and allowed two hits in 2 1/3 innings. Moore allowed one hit in 3 1/3 innings. Brignac pitched a perfect final inning with two strikeouts.
