Baseball: Bossier suffers first loss in American Legion regional tournament

One tough inning cost the Bossier Phillies in a 5-2 loss to Bryant, Ark., on the second day of the American Legion Baseball Mid-South Regional Tournament Thursday in Washington, Mo.

Bryant scored all five of its runs in the top of third and the Phillies were unable to rally.

Bossier faces Columbia, Tenn., in an elimination game Friday. It is scheduled to start following a 9:30 a.m. elimination game between Ada, Okla., and Elsberry, Mo.

Hudson Brignac, a 2024 Benton graduate, had two of the Phillies’ six hits. One of those was a triple.

Benton senior Kade Bryant went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Glenbrook senior Easton Sanders had a double. Beckville, Texas, senior Cade Moore  had a single.

Starting pitcher Colton Smith, a 2024 Parkway graduate, went three innings. He struck out six and walked one.

Brody Bower, a 2024 Minden graduate, allowed one hit, no runs and one walk in three innings of relief.

Bryant got four consecutive singles in the third. Bryant got only one more hit after that.
