The Bossier Bearkats defeated the Red River Bulldogs 13-4 in a non-district baseball game Monday night in Coushatta.
Elsewhere, Benton suffered a tough 5-4 loss against defending Class 1A state champ Ouachita Christian at Louisiana Tech’s Love Field, and Parkway dropped a 14-4 decision at West Ouachita.
Devon Smith, Omar Green and Rangel Miller all had two hits in Bossier’s win. One of Miller’s was a double. Smith also had three stolen bases.
Kevin McCuthen (2-1) picked up the win. The Bearkats improved to 6-3.
At Ruston, Benton scored twice in the top of the seventh to tie OCS at 4, but the Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the inning to win it.
Benton’s Wade Grubbs went 3-for-4 with a double. Peyton Long and Cody Norris had two hits each. Connor Jack Smith had a triple.
Taylor Ward led off Benton’s seventh with a single and Hal Gatti walked. Legend Denler, running for Ward, and Gatti advanced to third on an error. Garrett Hable’s sacrifice fly scored Denler and made it 4-3.
Gatti advanced to third on a Grubbs’ single and came home on the throw to tie it.
The Eagles got a triple and sacrifice fly in the seventh to win it. Benton, which saw its four-game winning streak end, dropped to 6-5.
At West Ouachita, Caleb Reese went 2-for-3 in Parkway’s loss. Eric Williams had a solo home run and Amani Larry had a double.
Parkway dropped to 4-5.
