Baseball: BPCC falls to NE Texas in 10 innings in first game of series

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers fell to the Northeast Texas Community College 3-2 in 10 innings in Game 1 of their three-game Region XIV baseball series Wednesday in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

The game was tied at 3 after nine innings. BPCC scored two in the top of the 10th, but NE Texas came back with three in the bottom of the inning to win it.

BPCC’s Matt Hammock had a home run, two doubles and two RBI. Franciso Rodriguez went 3-for-5. Former Benton standout Andrew Cole had a single in the 10th and scored on Robert Herrera’s single.

BPCC starter Cole Edgens went six innings. He struck out five, walked two and allowed one earned run.

The teams are scheduled to complete the series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday in Mount Pleasant.
