Baseball: BPCC takes two of three from North Central Texas

The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers took two of three in a weekend series against North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas.

The Cavs defeated North Central 9-8 Friday and split a doubleheader Saturday, winning the first game 11-9 and losing the second 15-6.

BPCC rallied from a 6-2 deficit with seven runs in the eighth in Friday’s victory. Spencer Goodwin had a double and grand slam home run. Hunter Wilcher had two doubles Vaughn Shapen had two hits, including a double.

Shapen had two home runs, including a grand slam, and seven RBIs in Saturday’s victory. Justin Norris went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Wilcher had two doubles. Francisco Rodriguez had two hits. Doc Wilkerson, who allowed five hits and three earned runs in four innings, got the win.

Goodwin went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in the Saturday loss. Rodriguez also had two hits, including a double. Wilcher and Matt Hammock had one double each. Former Benton standout Andrew Cole had a hit.

BPCC (4-6-1) is in Raymond, Miss., today for a doubleheader against Hinds Community College. The Cavs return home Saturday for a 2 p.m. game against Hill College.
