Baseball: Haughton tops North Webster; Benton sweeps Huntington

The Haughton Buccaneers defeated the North Webster Knights 9-5 in a non-district game Tuesday night at Haughton.

Also Tuesday, the Benton Tigers swept a District 1-4A doubleheader at Huntington 16-3 and 15-2. Bossier fell to Logansport in a non-district game at Rusheon.

At Haughton, the Bucs (9-6) led 6-0 after two innings and 9-3 after five. Seth Bradshaw went 3-for-3. Triston Carmack had two doubles and three RBI. Jonathan Plant had two hits, including a double. Sam Wallace and Seth Ryan also had two hits as the Bucs racked up 13 total. Tyler Davis had a double.

Carmack, Kirkland Seals, Trey Morris and Wallace combined to limit the Knights to six hits.

At Huntington, freshman Garrett Hable went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI in the first half of the doubleheader. Jake Norris and Jaret Gill also had doubles. Coleman Nerren, Aaron Sheppard, Cody Norris and Tyler Stephens had two RBI apiece in the four-inning game.

Aaron Thompson pitched three innings of no-hit ball with nine strikeouts.

Cameron Horton hit two home runs and had four RBI in the second half of the doubleheader. Wade Grubbs, Branson Woodward and TJ Anderson had doubles. Jake Norris and Will Hine had two RBI each.

Woodward and Stephens combined on a five-inning three-hitter. Benton improved to 13-7 overall and 2-0 in district.

At Rusheon, Devon Smith had a double in Bossier’s loss to Logansport.
