The Bossier Phillies pulled off a late rally and advanced to the championship round of the American Legion Baseball Mid-South Regional tournament Saturday in Washington, Mo.

Trailing 1-0 after five innings, Bossier scored four in the top of the sixth and two in the seventh to defeat Tupelo, Miss., 6-2. The loss was Tupelo’s first in the double-elimination tournament.

The Phillies, who are 3-1 in the tournament, face Bryant, Ark., at 11 a.m. Sunday. They will be looking to avenge a 5-2 loss to Bryant on Thursday.

Bossier, Bryant and Tupelo are the only three teams left in the eight-team tournament.

Because Tupelo defeated Bryant in the winners’ bracket finals, it automatically draws the bye into Sunday’s 2 p.m. championship game.

The Bossier-Bryant winner plays Tupelo for the title. The winner advances to the 97th American Legion World Series Aug. 15-20 in Shelby, N.C.

Brody Bower, a 2024 Minden graduate who signed with BPCC, pitched a complete game against Tupelo. He scattered eight hits, struck out three and walked one.

Benton senior Jackson Jones went 3-for-3. Hudson Brignac, a 2024 Benton graduate, and Benton senior Kade Bryant had two hits each.

Glenbrook senior Easton Sanders and 2024 North DeSoto graduate Blayne McFerren had one RBI each.

Tucker McCabe, a 2024 Northwood graduate, had a single.

McCabe, Brignac and Bryant led off the decisive sixth with consecutive singles. Sanders brought home the tying run with a groundout and Brignac scored on an error.

Sanders scored on another error on a grounder by Liberty-Eylau senior Britain Pipes, who advanced to second on the error and moved to third on a wild pitch. McFerren then scored Pipes with a sacrifice fly.

Jones and Brignac had singles in the seventh and the Phillies took advantage of another error to add the final two runs.
