The Benton Tigers, Parkway Panthers, Plain Dealing Lions and Haughton Buce posted boys basketball victories Thursday night.
Benton defeated Green Oaks 56-54, Parkway downed North DeSoto 70-47 and Plain Dealing knocked off Bossier 58-48. Haughton defeated Calvary Baptist 47-38 in the first round of the Minden Holiday Classic.
The Benton-Green Oaks game was tied at 54 with one second left. After a Benton timeout, William Givens hit a shot at the buzzer to win it.
Givens led the Tigers (5-5) with 17 points. Dajerrick White added 14. Jerryun Lawrence tossed in nine and Jessie Little had eight.
Parkway improved to 9-3 with its victory at North DeSoto. Gabe Decuir scored 13 points and Tristan Hill had 11.
Isaac Jacobs poured in 21 points in Plain Dealing’s home win over Bossier, which lost for the third time in four days. Keldrick Carper added 13 points. Chiner Long had 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Logan Allen contributed to the win with 10 points.
Haughton got 18 points from Damien Sears in its win over Calvary. Javonte Woodard chipped in with 10. The Bucs lost to Loyola 56-36 Friday.
In a girls game, Plain Dealing got past Bossier 56-51. Hersey Stumon paced the Lady Lions with 23 points. Nadia Thomas scored 10. Gabbie Mason led Bossier with 20 points. Alysha Crismond led Bossier with 20 points, and Gabbie Mason added 14.
The Haughton girls defeated Neville 39-25 before losing to Ruston 50-39 in the consolation semifinals of the Minden Holiday Classic.
Cassandra Simmons led Haughton with nine against Neville. Ebone’ Green and Inez Green each scored nine against Ruston. The Lady Bucs play Ruston for the third time this season Monday night at 6 at BPCC.
