Basketball roundup: Airline girls improve to 8-1

The Airline Lady Vikings improved to 8-1 with a 60-49 victory over the Minden Lady Tiders Tuesday night at Minden.

Senior guard Kei McCoy hit 17 of 21 free throws and finished with a game-high 23 points. Post player Tyra Kidd added 16 points. Guard Madison Rowland hit two 3-pointers and scored eight points.

In another girls game, the Benton Lady Tigers picked up their first win of the season, 51-19, over Lakeside in Sibley.

Yakina Manning scored 14 points and Brandy Harris 13 to lead the Lady Tigers (1-5). Benton outscored the Lady Warriors 34-7 in the second half after leading 17-12 at halftime.

In boys action, the Airline Vikings and Parkway Panthers both lost road games.

Airline fell to Minden 77-68, and Parkway dropped a 70-67 decision to Leesville.

Tybren Wimberly and KJ Bilbo topped Airline (4-4) with 18 points each. Robby Dooley added 15.

Artavious Lynn led Parkway with 19 points. Jared Collier added 14, Juwon Johnson 12 and Tristan Hill 10.
