The Bayou Pirates Kayak Fishing Club, a kayak fishing organization based in Bossier City, will host their inaugural kayak bass fishing tournament, 6 a.m.-12 p.m., Saturday, August 31 at Cypress Bayou Reservoir on Highway 162 in Bossier Parish.

Anglers will launch from the Cypress Bayou Reservoir launch located on Highway 162 approximately 3.5 miles East of Hwy. 3 in Benton, La. This event is thought to be the first organized kayak fishing event to take place in Shreveport-Bossier.

Registration for the tournament will open at 6 a.m. and final check-in will take place at noon. This is a “catch, photograph and release” tournament. Entry fee is $20, with $5 of that entry fee going into a “winner take all” prize money pool which will be awarded to the angler who catches the biggest bass.

Free refreshments, including hot dogs and bottled water, will be available at the 12 p.m. check-in.
