The Bossier City Fire Department is lending a helping hand to a south Louisiana Fire Department whose personnel are trying to recover from the recent flooding there.
Four Bossier City firefighters are in the East Baton Rouge Parish city of Central, Louisiana assisting its fire department by working shifts for Central firefighters so they can have time off to care for their flooded homes.
Bossier City firefighters Bryan Hester, Dwayne Elliott, Dalton Elliott and Andy Lowrie went to Central on Monday to work a 48 hour shift alongside Central firefighters and respond to fire calls as needed. They are scheduled to be relieved tomorrow by four other Bossier City firefighters – Steve Ford, Keith Waldron, Patrick Schaub, and Jason Sanchez – who will deploy to Central for another 48 hour shift. The Bossier City firefighters are covering shifts for Central Fire Department personnel whose homes were flooded so that they can take time off from work and clean up the damage and care for their families.
Three other Bossier City Fire Department personnel where in south Louisiana last week assisting with the flood fight. EMS Chief Jeff Watson helped state emergency medical service personnel coordinate evacuations of patients at medical facilities while firefighters Scott English and Kevin Bragg along with Aspen, BCFD’s search, rescue and recovery K-9, were deployed as part of Louisiana Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 3, a regional emergency response group comprised of personnel from multiple northwest Louisiana public safety agencies.
