The Bossier City Fire Department will kick off its annual school fire safety program at Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Central Park Elementary School.
Each year during the month of October the department’s Fire Prevention Bureau brings its fire prevention and safety program to Bossier elementary schools through use of a multimedia presentation that includes a puppet show, video presentation and appearances by Sparky the Fire Dog and Freddie the Fire Truck.
During October, BCFD fire prevention officers will put on the program for more than 7,000 thousand children from elementary schools and child care facilities in Bossier City. The Bossier City Fire Department conducts the program each year during October in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, which is observed this year from October 5 through October 11.
This year’s National Fire Prevention Week focuses on the importance of smoke alarms and carries the theme “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month.”
