Each year during the month of October, the Bossier City Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Bureau brings its fire safety message to Bossier elementary schools through use of a multimedia presentation that includes a puppet show, video presentation and appearance by Freddie the Fire Truck.
Fire prevention officers will present the safety program to more than 7,300 children from elementary schools and child care facilities in Bossier City. The Bossier City Fire Department conducts the program annually in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, which is observed this year from October 4 through October 10.
This year’s National Fire Prevention Week focuses on the importance of smoke alarms with the theme “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm.”
Mayor Lorenz Walker will join Bossier City Fire Chief Brad Zagone on Thursday, Oct. 1, during a kick-off event at Bossier Elementary. Mayor Walker will present a proclamation recognizing Oct 4 – 10, 2015 as National Fire Prevention Week in Bossier City.
