The holiday shopping season means the Bossier City Police Department will once again be activating its Armed Robbery Task Force.
Officers assigned to the task force will patrol Bossier City businesses and busy shopping centers to provide an increased law enforcement presence in and around these locations. 
The main objective of the task force is to prevent armed robberies and other crimes by keeping criminals guessing if a business that they are considering to target will have a Bossier City police officer close by and ready to respond.
The Bossier City Police Department has utilized its Armed Robbery Task Force each year during the holiday shopping season since 1987. Overtime expenses to fund the task force are covered by a grant from the United States Justice Department.
