BCPD investigating crash on Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge

UPDATEThe Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office dive team has concluded its search for Kevin Deleon on the Red River with no recovery. Search efforts will resume tomorrow via regular river patrols conducted by personnel with the Caddo Parish Sheriff Office and Bossier Parish Sheriff Office. 
Bossier City police are investigating a two vehicle crash that happened on the Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge this morning that resulted in a man falling into the Red River.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday when a small pickup that was bossier city policebeing pushed by four men and one woman in the outside westbound lane of the bridge was rear ended by a full size pickup truck traveling westbound.
The collision caused 23-year old Kevin Deleon of Bossier City, who was among those pushing the pickup, to go over the side of the bridge and into the Red River. The Bossier City Fire Department is conducting a search on the river for him at this time. The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office and Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office are assisting with that search.Another man who was with the group pushing the small pickup truck was taken to a local hospital with what were believed to be none life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup that rear-ended the truck received minor injuries and refused transport to a hospital.Police learned Deleon and the others were pushing the pickup after it ran out of gas as they were traveling in it across the bridge.As a result of the crash, police closed the westbound span of the Shreveport-Barksdale Bridge for about three and a half hours this morning.

Police have determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
