BCPD promotes 14-year veteran

Bossier City Chief of Police Shane McWilliams today announced the promotion of a 14-year veteran of the department. Chief McWilliams today promoted Javis Smoak to the rank of sergeant.

Sgt. Smoak received his promotion Wednesday during a ceremony at the Bossier City Police Department with Mayor Lorenz Walker, family, friends and department personnel in attendance.

Sgt. Smoak has been a member of the Bossier City Police Department since 2003 and has spent the past several years assigned to the BCPD’s Traffic Division. Along with his promotion, Sgt. Smoak now becomes supervisor of the Traffic Division.
