UPDATE: BCPD arrest armed robbery suspect

Verndell D. WinnUPDATE: Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit have arrested a suspect in last week’s attempted robbery at the Cloverdale Apartments. Verndell Dewayne Winn, 21, of Bossier City was arrested on a charge of home invasion Monday night at a residence in the 1900 block of Scott Street. Winn was taken into custody on a warrant that detectives obtained based in part on information that was provided by a tip made to Bossier Crime Stoppers. Winn was booked into the Bossier City and later transferred to the Bossier Parish Maximum Security Facility.

The Bossier City Police Department and Bossier Crime Stoppers are asking the public for help with locating the armed suspect who tried to rob a man at a local apartment complex this afternoon.

Police were called to the Cloverdale Apartments in the 2200 block of Shed Road at about 3 p.m. in reference to an attempted armed robbery. The victims, a man and woman, tell police they were inside the woman’s apartment with their young child when the suspect entered the apartment armed with two handguns and demanded money. The suspect, who had red beanie pulled down over a portion of his face, then struck the male victim in the head with one of the weapons before running away without taking anything.

The suspect was caught on security camera video getting into a burnt orange colored Mitsubishi Eclipse and fleeing the scene. The suspect is described as a black male, about 5’8” tall, 170 pounds, with a medium build and was wearing a red beanie on his head along with a black shirt and black shorts.

Anyone who can help police locate this suspect is asked to call Bossier Crime Stoppers at (318) 424-4100. Callers to Crime Stoppers are reminded they may remain totally anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest.
