Benteler holds job fair at BPCC

Dr. Michael Koch, Benteler chief technical officer, speaking to attendees about Benteler and the job application process.

Benteler Steel/Tube recently hosted its first job fair in Bossier City on the campus of Bossier Parish Community College, where the company will have a dedicated training center.

Nearly 1,000 job seekers came to the event on Saturday, August 9, to learn about Benteler, its Shreveport facility, manufacturing excellence and Benteler’s job application process. Attendees heard a 45-minute presentation from Patrick Guillaume, Project Director, Dr. Michael Koch, Chief Technical Officer, and Rhonda Simmons, HR Manager. Each session was followed with a questions and answer discussion.

Benteler currently has about 90 employees in Shreveport and expects that number to grow to 200 by the end of the year. By the end of 2015, Benteler expects to have more than 500 employees at the hot-rolling steel tube mill. When it is at full capacity, the plant will have more than 675 employees.

Benteler is seeking applicants interested in mechanical and electrical maintenance positions as well as production positions in the areas of hot rolling mill operations, finishing operations, quality, logistics, infrastructure, and production planning. Applicants must apply online by going to www.BentelerJobsinLA.com.  Hourly candidates who are invited for an interview must be willing to participate in either a 3 day, 4 hours per day pre-employment assessment process for operators, or a 2 day, 6-8 hours per day pre-employment assessment process for hourly maintenance positions. Applicants will be required to pass a drug screening and background check.

LED FastStart® – the nation’s top-ranked, state workforce development program – supported the event along with Bossier Parish Community College and the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
