The Benton Tigers won the Region I, Division II golf championship Wednesday at Links on the Bayou in Alexandria.
The Tigers shot a 322 on the par-72 layout and won by 10 strokes over St. Louis of Lake Charles.
North DeSoto finished third at 336. DeRidder and Loyola both shot 338. DeRidder won a playoff for a spot in the state tournament.
Benton’s Jacob Wyatt, who won the District I-II individual title last week at Palmetto, finished tied for second with a 5-over 77.
North DeSoto’s Nolan Timon won with a 76.
Other Benton players in the scoring were Shane Cram (79), Corbin Cantrell (81) and Colton Ryan (85).
Benton coach Tim Cram said conditions were “very, very windy” with less than 10 golfers breaking 80.
Benton will go for its third straight Division II state championship starting Monday at Huntington Park Golf Course.
The 36-hole tournament concludes Tuesday.
The Division I and III tournaments will be played at East Ridge. The Division IV tournament will also be at Huntington.
