Benton man arrested for sexual contact with teens

A Benton man has been arrested for having inappropriate sexual contact with teenagers.

William Edwards, 73, of the 100 block of Theresa Lane in Benton, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with two counts of Molestation of a Juvenile and two counts of Aggravated Crimes Against Nature.

Bossier detectives determined Edwards has inappropriate sexual contact with at least two juveniles for more than a year.  

Edwards was arrested Thursday afternoon and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking where he faces a $350,000 bond.

“Our detectives continue to investigate these cases of child sex crimes, and I encourage anyone who may have been a victim of sexual assault to please contact the Bossier Sheriff’s Office or your local law enforcement agency,” said Sheriff Whittington.  

The statute of limitations for most sex crimes involving juveniles is the state of Louisiana is 30 years from the time the victim turns 18 years of age.   Some victims might not be emotionally capable to come forward as young people, but Sheriff Whittington and Bossier detectives encourage victims, even as they age into their adult years, to come forward and let law enforcement investigate their cases to help with the healing process and so perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.

Detectives are continuing their investigation.
