Benton Middle School eighth-grader Lake Bradford was honored at the Offense-Defense Football Camp this summer in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Bradford was named Offense-Defense Youth All-American and has been invited to play in the 11th annual Offense-Defense Bowl game on New Year’s Eve at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Atlanta.
Bradford and the rest of the players will also participate in a week of clinics, practices and festivities sponsored by Gatorade, Chick-Fil-A, Six Flags, Rivals.com, Riddell and others, according to a press release.
Bradford, a 5-foot-7, 140-pound wide receiver and defensive back, was selected from a group of over 4,000 athletes who attended camps across the country.
“Lake turned heads on offense by showing soft hands and a knack for making difficult catches in traffic,” according to camp position coach Carl Nesmith. “On defense, he showed great instincts. He’s a smart, coachable, high-character athlete with tons of upside.”
Bradford capped off the week with a two-touchdown performance in the camp’s full-contact scrimmage.
“The Youth All-American game is just one of many events slated for this year’s Bowl Week,” the press release stated.” Also included is the High School All-Stra game (televised on ESPY), showcasing 88 of the top seniors in the country.
“The high school showcase has featured several current NEL players, including Cam Newton, Del Bryant, Zach Mettenberger, Jeremy Hill, and many others before they were collegiate and professional stars.”
