Benton’s Hayden White tied for seventh in David Toms event


Benton sophomore Hayden White is tied for seventh after the first round Tuesday of the David Toms Foundation Shreveport Junior golf tournament.

White shot an even-par 72 at Southern Trace Country Club. He is three strokes behind leader Parker Coody of Plano, Texas. Mason Weld (Helotes, Texas), Andrew Hernandez (Cerritors, Calif.) and Josh Kirkland (West Monroe) are tied for second at 70.

Former Benton standout Jacob Wyatt, who is headed to Louisiana Tech, shot a 70 and is tied for 40th.

The 54-hole American Junior Golf Association event continues Wednesday and concludes Thursday.
