Benton sophomore-to-be Hayden White has moved into the top 10 after two rounds of the American Junior Golf Association’s David Toms Foundation Shreveport Junior tournament at Southern Trace Country Club.
White shot a 1-over par 73 Wednesday, two strokes better than his first-round total. He’s at 4-over 148 and in a five-way tie for 10th. White had three birdies and four bogeys. Two of the birdies came on the final holes of the first round.
The 54-hole event is scheduled to conclude Thursday.
Benton’s Colton Ryan also shot a 73, a major improvement from his first-round 82. He’s tied for 27th.
Simms Abney of Madison, Miss., moved into the lead after shooting a 5-under 67. He has a two-day total of 6-under 138. First-round leader Tommy Boone of Plano, Texas, shot a 73 and is four strokes back in second place.
Jacob Bergeron of Slidell moved into third place with a 67 after shooting a 76 in the first round. He’s five strokes back.
