BOSSIER CITY – September 3, 1925 – April 12, 2014. Services celebrating the life of Bettie Ruth King Luckette, “Nannie” will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 with Father Pike Thomas and Pastor Sig Kunz officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Luckette was born in Ruston, LA on September 3, 1925 to Byron Atkins “Fox” King and Mary Elizabeth Oxford King and passed away on April 12, 2014. After graduating from Ruston High School Bettie worked for 16 years at Southern Bell Telephone Company. She and her husband also owned a business for over thirty years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bert Samuel Luckette, her parents, her brothers Jackie and Donald King and her sister Joann Russell.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters Sharon Kavanaugh and husband Robin of Baton Rouge, LA and Gail Jones and husband Johnny of Benton, LA; granddaughters Kim Kleinpeter and husband Kevin and Kara Kavanaugh and Jared Synkula of Baton Rouge, LA; grandsons Rod Nattin and wife Trish and Greg Nichols and wife Amy of Bossier City, LA; great grandchildren Jack and Max Kleinpeter of Baton Rouge, LA; and Katelyn, Addy and Skylar Nichols of Bossier City, LA; sister-in-law Cecile King of Blanchard, LA and brother-in-law Ken Russell of Bossier City, LA.

Bettie’s life was filled with many blessings and special memories. She was a wonderful example of graciousness, charm, dignity and strength. Radiating kindness, goodness, humor and style, she was a blessing in the lives of all who knew her. She was a beautiful, loving caring person who lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, reading, and working her daily crossword puzzles. Her infectious smile and her zest for life will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 4700 Palmetto Rd., Benton, LA 71006 and Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2565 Airline Dr., Bossier City, LA 71111.
